"My Love is Changing the World!"

There is a choice. We can see a world of unbelievable happiness and joy. Or we can see a world of pain, fear, anger, and attack. The choice is ours.

Public schools would teach that the choice to let ourselves laugh as the world engages in a orgy of bloodshed and killing, hatred and destruction, is a form of denial ... keeping one's head buried in the sand, "Pollyanna-ism." But then again, public schools these days are specifically taught to separate themselves from God, wouldn't you say?

Jesus Christ, on the other hand, teaches us that the world we are tempted to see with our severely limited human perception is not the real world. In his 21st century revelation A Course in Miracles, Jesus tells us that the world our human perception wants to see, the world of sickness, suffering and death, is a meaningless world; and when we learn to see instead with our heart, only then do we see truly.

"You think that what upsets you is a frightening world, or a sad world, or a violent world, or an insane world. All these attributes are given it by you. The world is meaningless in itself. The importance of this idea lies in the fact that it contains a correction for a major perceptual distortion." (ACIM Lesson 12)

"But Rabbi, what about the Roman occupation of our land? What about the corrupt priests who operate the temple? What about the blind, and the sick, and the sinful?"

"Dear one, you are seeing what is meaningless. The kingdom I am seeing is the kingdom you really want. But you are chosing not to see my kingdom."

"Perception is consistent. What you see reflects your thinking. And your thinking but reflects your choice of what you want to see. Your values are determiners of this, for what you value you must want to see, believing what you see is really there." (ACIM Lesson 130)

Jesus is asking us to look inside to extremely deep and true desires we may have long ignored and find out if we really want to see a world of pain, suffering and death. Or would the world we see change altogether if we choose a different way of seeing?

"But Rabbi, Pollyannas are seen as hopelessly deluded!"

"Seen as deluded, dear one? By whom? By whose agenda?"

"Is it a loss to find a world instead where losing is impossible, where love endures forever, hate cannot exist, and vengeance has no meaning? Is it loss to find all things you really want and know they have no ending, and they will remain exactly as you want them throughout time?" (ACIM Lesson 129)

"But Rabbi...."

"Open your mind, dear one, and see a different world altogether. Open your heart and see the world love shows you. Your world will change before your very eyes as you look with love instead of fear."

"Yes, but Rabbi, many say you are a false teacher. The Pharisees say you find so many exceptions to the traditional law that the law will soon be meaningless. The Saducees say you would destroy law and order altogether."

"No law the world obeys can help you grasp love’s meaning. What the world believes was made to hide love’s meaning and to keep it dark and secret. There is not one principle the world upholds but violates the truth of what love is, and what you are as well. Seek not within the world to find who you really are. Love is not found in darkness and in death. Yet it is perfectly apparent to the eyes that see and ears that hear love's voice." (ACIM Lesson 127)

Who would attempt to crucify such love in order to hold onto their world of fear and hatred, attack and defense? We need not make a list. We need only decide individually the kind of world we really, really, really want to see ... and then see it with all our heart.

Or maybe it would be better put in terms children would understand, as if we were back in the days when public schools were innocent and not taught to stay separate from God:

"My world looks different...
...with a smiley face!"
