With the impending trial in the court case regarding the authorship (and therefore the copyright validity) of A Course in Miracles
(trial scheduled to begin Tuesday June 4th), someone might ask the question: will angels be present in the courtroom?
If we were to lapse into human consciousness, it would seem that there has to be a winner and a loser in such a legal proceeding. Seeing winners and losers is how human consciousness works. But we have evidence that angels see the whole episode as just another win-win situation.
Just the other day, one angel was heard saying, "It's time people on earth started seeing that their manmade copyright law is an artificial device created for the purpose of perpetuating the ego-myth of separate individuals with separate and unique thoughts."
Another angel answered the first angel: "It's crazy! Even if you wanted to pretend that separation exists and there are individuals with unique thoughts, every thought of true and lasting value has been given to earth from heaven and we in heaven give freely without charge. In fact, we would never put limits on copying. We actually encourage the widespread and free copying and distribution of the thoughts we whisper into people's minds."
A third angel was heard saying, "Mankind's copyright law is illogical enough, but what about the way so-called 'Christians' deny the real teachings of Jesus? If this court case could lend even a smidgeon of establishment legality to the truth that Jesus wrote A Course in Miracles, maybe Christianity would start getting it's head out of the sand and the world of conflict and pain could make leaps and bounds toward becoming the world of peace and joy that Jesus foresees."
All the angels admitted to each other, "It would be fun to travel down to New York, hang out in the courtroom, and see what we can stir up."
"It couldn't hurt for us to be there," said the first angel. "But with all that human consciousness in the courtroom we'll have hold our minds strongly in the truth that outcomes simply do not matter. We win no matter what!"
"By all means!" said the third angel. "If the court rules against a Ken Wapnick/Penguin Publishing monopoly, then the sanctity of spiritual authorship will be upheld and the Holy Spirit will be able to dictate many future books which serve the spiritual opening process and are no longer subject to distribution dictatorship protected by an artificial and ego-serving manmade law."
"And if it goes the other way ... " chimed in the second angel, " ... if the court rules in favor of a Ken Wapnick/Penguin Publishing monopoly, then the Holy Spirit will simply recruit new scribes and will continue to dictate books which serve as spiritual preparation devices. And looking into earth's future we foresee scribes who are spiritually advanced enough to hear the Holy Spirit's constant admonition, 'Freely you have received, freely give!' "
All the angels were joined as one when they added, "But if any new scribes do get caught up in ego games of fear, control, greed, and using government force to create a monopoly with respect to finished products, it's still not going to stop the Holy Spirit from continuing to undo what the Holy Spirit undoes."
Isn't there a good feeling when we hear angels talking with total confidence?
For those of us who love A Course in Miracles and have benefited more than anyone can imagine from letting the Course work on us, we seem to be assured that no matter which way the court decides, the Holy Spirit will still create spiritual opening devices and make sure such devices get into the hands of people who need them.
The angels didn't say it outright, but it sure seems implied that A Course in Miracles in the form of the three books we know is not the end all of the Holy Spirit's work.
In fact, we can pretty well be assured that the Holy Spirit is going to win big no matter how any court case is decided.
We look back to ancient Jerusalem and see Jesus standing before the court of the Sanhedrin.
If the Sanhedrin rule one way, then Jesus goes on teaching as always, taking his disciples deeper and farther out than ever. In turn, his disciples carry the teachings out from Judea without charge and without even asking that their travel expenses be covered. It isn't long before small gatherings of immense light are springing up in the most unexpected places.
If the Sanhedrin rule the other way, then the teachings of Jesus are spread over more than half the world by the Apostle Paul, basically in the form of a new religion and somewhat diluted light ... but light is light ... eventually reaching millions and millions of people.
The result of one ruling: light not as widespread, but very intense. The result of the other ruling: light not as intense, but very widespread. To the Holy Spirit, it makes no difference. Either way, the Holy Spirit wins. Either way the Holy Spirit smiles, so to speak.
The same principle applies everywhere we look in our daily lives, as if each of us is the judge making decisions, one week a decision about jobs, another week a decision about housing, another week a decision about relationships, another week a decision about something else we have decided is important in our life, so it's essentially the same court case over and over again.
With any important decision, are we listening to our internal spiritual guidance? Or are we deciding based on fear and a conscious or subconscious need to be in control?
Suppose after making an important decision we immediately sense that we didn't follow spiritual guidance with the decision and now it's too late. Ego tempts us to say, "Oops! Wrong decision!" Is this cause for guilt and worry and banging our head against the wall?
Not hardly. It's okay to use the concept "mistake" as long as we understand that "correction" happened simultaneously. The Holy Spirit and angels simply say something like, "Hey, we win either way!"
Court cases telescopically mirror life cases, but the filtering lens is human consciousness. The Holy Spirit might be guiding a particular outcome, but having to work through human consciousness the trial might go off in a seemingly non-holy direction. Trial observers might be praying for the outcome they are hearing inside is right, but the answer to those prayers must manifest through human consciousness, which can be mistaken although simultaneously corrected.
The same principle is true with judging the outcome of our prayers or judging the outcome of following any spiritual guidance. Let's say we hear about someone in pain and our guidance is to pray intensely for pain relief. The next thing we know, the pain is worse than ever.
Is this cause for doubt and questioning? For lack of trust?
Remember our prayers have opened the one in pain to the Holy Spirit for help, but the Holy Spirit must work through the human consciousness of the one in pain. Tricky proposition. We can succumb to the temptation to judge what the answer to our prayers should look like. But it will be an incorrect judgment handed down.
On the other hand, we can know and remember the Holy Spirit is winning, no matter what.
Which from human viewpoint means we are winning ... even if an incorrect judgment is handed down.
It's as if we could go through the day singing a happy song:
