Every once in a while you hear song lyrics or spoken lines in a movie and say to yourself: "Where's that coming from? Nobody on Earth thinks like that!" In other words, you just know for sure that the song writer or screen writer has abandoned normal perception and intellect, allowing something to come through from higher reaches of mind.
Such writers have learned to disengage their intellects and impulses from previous learning and in a sense "go somewhere else." The voice which they then hear has variously been called the voice of "inspiration," "guides," "teachers," "angels," "visitors from outer space," or in Christian language the "Holy Spirit." Who cares what the voice is called?
The entire 1980 movie Xanadu has the flavor of not being from Earth: "The Greek muses incarnate themselves on Earth to inspire men to achieve." In the movie we learn that the same guiding voice can work with someone in 1945 and 1980 on one and the same project, as if guidance is having a universal effect and "when" is not a factor.
Of course the song from Xanadu that became most popular is remembered for its words:
If you were minimally tuned-in to your spirit and watched Xanadu in 1980, you might have said to yourself something like: "Holy smokes! I'm being told that the force that causes movement throughout the universe has set in motion something big and far-reaching on Earth. It's going to open up the entire world!"
Flash forward to 2003. At our Salt Lake City spiritual center we are constantly receiving e-mail messages requesting information, prayers, spiritual counseling, or anything else we have to offer ... from countries all over the world. It seems like A Course in Miracles is spreading everywhere. It's very tempting to proclaim in Christian language: "Wow! The Holy Spirit is having a party ... and it really is all over the world!"
One very rapidly growing organization writes on their multi-national website:
A Course In Miracles International represents the millions of teachers and students of A Course In Miracles who individually or through healing centers or transformational study groups are discovering the peace of enlightened mind for which all humanity yearns. The healing of body, mind, and spirit through the training of our Course is being practiced in virtually every country of the world.
But peace is just a beginning, isn't it? Once peace is chosen, an enlightened mind explodes into total freedom and infinite joy, an experience that is returned to again and again, as well as brought back to Earth again and again, until as Christians like to say, "when the time is right" the world disappears altogether.
You might say the Earth is in for an incredible transformation which will show us dramatic worldly reflections of enlightened mind: the fizzling out of war-like impulses and establishment of peace in all lands, the weakening and falling apart of constricting governments and the rise of individual liberty on every continent, the release of guilt, pain, and fear until joy is experienced throughout the Earth.

Monday, October 27, 2003: Judge Sweet's ruling becomes publicly known. Within minutes, Bethie writes to the Brothers of Endeavor Yahoo Group:
Bethie is not directing our attention to the fact that all copyrights are inventions of coercive government designed to arbitrarily grant monopoly control in spite of the fact that new invention, inspiration, insight, and "channeling" invariably enters tuned-in open minds everywhere at the same time.
What Bethie is focusing on is that the work of the Holy Spirit cannot be restricted even if a few attempt to use the full force of an intrusive and controlling government to constrict it. The Holy Spirit will find a way to free everyone!
A Course in Miracles may now become available for much less money than the $30 list price or $21 sale price on Amazon.com. Editions will become available at such low cost that religious groups and psychologists operating on low budget will now be able to give away the Course free instead of just recommending it and hoping for the best. Millions of new people will be able to discover the true teachings of Jesus Christ in just a few short years.
Teachers of A Course in Miracles will now feel free to teach it according to their own spiritual guidance. Some will teach a much broader and deeper understanding of the Course than Ken Wapnick could have imagined possible. Others will just as surely fall short of Ken Wapnick's understanding and teach what Wapnick supporters feared would be a "bastardized interpretation." In all cases the Holy Spirit can be trusted to smile, make adjustments, and teach there never was any reason to fear!
Will the distant future sprout new religions growing up based on one or another interpretation of the Course? It's practically inevitable. Creating external forms is what human minds do. Already mainstream Christians call Ken Wapnick's supporters a cult, New Agers call Marianne Williamson's readers another cult, and CBS's Dan Rather has declared the Master Teacher's listeners to be a third cult. Nonetheless, all this cult-calling matters not, because always the Holy Spirit laughs and makes course corrections. A Course in Miracles has since the beginning of time come to human minds in hundreds of thousands of forms. Most forms have been called cults, but there is no call for fear.
Imagine yourself landing in a new city 10 years from now, scanning the yellow pages and finding half a dozen advertisements for churches based specifically on the Course or at least churches proclaiming to use the Bible supplemented by the Course. How could it not be? Jesus is tickled to see everyone's heart gushing with joy ... and modern churches are becoming places for the teaching of joy. It's the law of supply and demand. Now that the Course is free, demand for unbelievable peace and joy and love can be supplied in every city, town, and locality.
At the Miracles Healing Center of Salt Lake City we host public light sessions 3 times a week. Those who attend for the first time, no matter how much they are warned in advance, are always surprised. They tell their friends: "It's not like any religious service or prayer circle or meditation I've ever seen! It's like a party!"
But the unfettered joy of our sessions is exactly what Jesus teaches. It's exactly what A Course in Miracles is all about: A party ... all over the world!
