Little Known Wolfenstein Facts

1. The game Wolfenstein 3D makes a small appearence at the beginning of the movie "The Net" with Sandra Bullock and Jeremy Northham. Sandra plays an informatician and she's trying to find a bug in the program.

2. The names of the two Grosses (from Wolfenstein 3D), Hans and Gretel, are without doubt based on the popular german-originated tale of Hansel and Gretel. In the story, Hansel and Gretel are two young kids who get lost in the forest and come upon a house made entirely of sweets (the walls are made in gingerbread, I think). However, in the house lives a witch who captures them and starts to fatten them up to eat them. I don't remember how they do it exactly, but Hansel and Gretel win at the end, and the wich dies. Also, in german, "Grosse" means "big". Hans and Gretel are the main vilains in parts 1 and 4 of Wolfenstein 3D, respectively.

3. This fact is, I believe, widely known to Wolfenstein fans : Otto Giftmacher's surname means "Poison maker", which is the charcater's job in the storyline. Otto Giftmacher is the main vilain in part 5 of Wolfenstein 3D.
