Saint of the Americas	Feast Day   of   Our Lady of Guadalupe
One day on Tepeyuc Hill she came to Juan Diago and told him to build a church in Tenochtitlan. "Ask the bishop to build a church so I may be able to see people's tears and be able to console them," she said. Juan did as told but the bishop did not believe that the Blessed Virgin Mary came to him. Juan Diago went back to the hill. There Mary waited for him. "Go back and ask again," she told him. This time the bishop asked him to ask "your lady" for a sign that she was really the mother of God. Juan Diago went back to the hill and told the lady what the bishop had said. "The bishop shall get his sign," she said and told him to go to the top of the hill, pick flowers, and roll them in your cloak. Juan Diago was doutful because it was winter but sure enough there was a garden of roses on top of the hill. Juan Diago did as told and brought his cloak to the bishop. When the bishop unraveled the cloak an image of Mary appeared. The bishop said "this is truly Mary the Mother of God." The church was built.
