Born in Spain, John learned the importance of self-sacraficing love from his parents. Even though he was wealthy and rich he still went hungry for God. He went hungry by fasting for hours. He was a priest and a doctor. He did this because he could help others at work.

                                           A prayer to Saint John of the Cross

           Saint John of the Cross, in the darkness of your worst moments, when you were alone and persecuted, you found God. Help me to have faith that God is with me especially in the times when God seems absent and far away.

            Todays Advent is to say the prayer or to spend some time alone, listen and acknowledge God's presence.
