St. Peter Canisius
     Patron Saint of Doctors

Born in Holland in 1521, St. Peter Canisius visited the sick and dying.
At the age of 43 he became a well known Jesuit who had founded colleges. He
edited and wrote several volumes on Church history and theology. Peter was
also a delegate to  the Council of Trent and reformed the German universities
from heresy. His first issue of the Catechism was issued in 1555.
Peter approached Christian doctrine in two parts:
wisdom--including faith, hope, and charity
justice -- avoiding evil and doing good,
linked by a section on sacraments.
