3. I don't know how to play A/G and E/D on the guitar. That's why I suggest
G or Gmaj7 instead of A/G and D or Dmaj7 istead of E/D. It fits also.

Intro: (played on organ)

  Dm6
b[--------0----0-]
g[-----2-----2---]

Verse 1:

A Gmaj7 D
Devastation at last finally we meet
A Gmaj7 D
After all of these years out here on the street
A Gmaj7 D
I had a feeling you would make yourself known
A Gmaj7 D
You came along just to claim your place on the throne
                B
And I have been overthrown
      Dmaj7
Overthrown

Chorus:

    A A/G F#m
And I thought if I towed the right lines
    F#dim A A/G F#m B7 D
But these mockingbirds won't let me shine

Verse 2:

A Gmaj7 D
Devastation my door was left open wide
A Gmaj7 D
You brought me into your heart then you swallowed my pride
A Gmaj7 D
I had a feeling you were hiding your thoughts
A Gmaj7 D
I made a note to myself I nearly forgot
          B
Now I am overwrought
        Dmaj7
I'm overwrought

Chorus:

    A A/G F#m
And I thought if I towed the right lines
    F#dim A A/G F#m B7 D
But these mockingbirds won't let me shine

Chorus:

    A A/G F#m
And I thought if I towed the right lines
    F#dim A A/G F#m B7 F#dim
But these mockingbirds won't let me shine

Middle part:

E Am6
One day this ground will break
    E A F#m B
And open up for me I hope it will I hope it will (the last word start the Solo)

Verse 3:

E Dmaj7 A
Salutations at last down on my knees
E Dmaj7 A
I heard the bugle this morn blast reveille
E Dmaj7 A
Woke from a dream where I was in a terrible realm
E Dmaj7 A
All my sails were ablaze I was chained to the helm
              F#
And now I am overwhelmed
         Amaj7
I'm overwhelmed

Chorus:

    E E/D C#m

And I thought if I towed the right lines
    F#dim A A/G F#m B7 D
But these mockingbirds won't let me shine

Chorus:

    A A/G F#m
And I thought if I towed the right lines (devastation at last)
    F#dim A A/G F#m B7 D
But these mockingbirds won't let me shine

Chorus:

    A A/G F#m
And I thought if I towed the right lines (devastation at last)
    F#dim A A/G F#m B7 D
But these mockingbirds won't let me shine
