Comments:
1. I guess guitars for this song are turned to F and not to Eb
(like in other songs), which means that the chords for this song are:
Intro: D A E x2, Verse: D A E x4, Chorus: F#m A F#m B,
Middle part: G D A x2 Bm D Bm E.
My supposition is connected with the fact, that the Intro
hammers (see the tab below) sound wonderful if 'D A E' are used
and doesn't fit at all if I try to transpose it to 'C D G'.
Intro:
D A E
e[------------------------------------------]
b[--0--h3-0--h3-0--h2-0--h2-0--------0------]
g[--2-----2-----2-----2-----1--1--2-----1---] x2
d[--0-----0-----2-----2-----2---------------]
a[--0-----0-----0-----0-----2---------------]
e[------------------------------------------]
The chords below are for the guitar turned to Eb (standard Copperopolis
turning).

Em G
Even the oxen ramming their heads on wood rails

Before the radio long before radio waves struck down to touch
C G D
Off the wild flame that took all in its path and trampled the young underbrush
C G D
Music shooed clouds away billowing anxieties are rolled over and out
C G D
Seems like a lot of folks gave up and got out except for the truly devout

And all of us knew this at one time from teething to toothless it's safe
to say
C G D
But useless perhaps to point out that we've lost our instincts and awe in
this day
Chorus:
Em G
And like the oxen ramming their heads on tin walls

Might come to know mercy before the barrier falls
Em A
And I come to know mercy before the barrier falls

And I come to know mercy before the barrier falls
