Our Mission Statement
The Colorado HOn3 Display Group will
build a portable narrow gauge layout to
display at model railroad shows and
conventions. We hope to introduce new
modelers to the fun of narrow gauge
model railroading.

The club is currently at the track plan stage. We are discussing a track plan similar to that shown above but the plan we settle on will definately show some changes. Note that the two end sections are 5 ft long by 2.5 ft wide. The club has several narrow gauge steam engines that need work and we are making repairs as necessary. We also are busy building some HOn3 freight cars kits to run on the layout. As construction commences, we will post photos on this page. |

The club has completed building all the frames for this portable layout. We have eight sections; six of which are 5' X 2.5' and two are 5' X 2'. We've decided to do something a little different with respect to mounting the legs. Instead of the usual 2" square legs, we are using 2" pvc pipe. This will allow us to place or remove the legs quickly for assembly/disassembly. The challenge was to design a mounting system that was efficient while still inexpensive. There were a number of pipe fittings that would work but would add about $40 per frame to the cost. This was voted down by the members. We have finally devised a mounting method that can be assembled completely out of plywood. More work but considerably less cost. We will take some photos shortly and I will describe the method in detail at that time. We continue to receive samples and products from model railroad manufacturers, for which we are grateful.
