August 1, 2003         Greetings liberal junkies and political newshounds. The intention of this page is to provide a web log on presidential politics and the major issues of the day.

As you can see from the cartoon to the right, there is much discontent between our two political parties. I side with one of the parties but I don't like to label myself one way or the other: Republican or Democrat, Conservative or Liberal. I like to think that I follow the facts - wherever they lead.

That said, I do have a rather dim view of the GOP at this moment. Actually the dim view started with the first Reagan presidency of 1980 and has (hopefully) reached its nadir in George W. Bush's presidency in 2003. Here's my thoughts in a nutshell:

Republicans need to climb out of the animal kingdom

Republicans are now in the grip of uber conservatives. I've heard these people say that liberals live by the socialist credo: "From each according to his abilities and to each according to his needs." I don't understand the ridicule of this philosophy. It sounds pretty similar to the golden rule: "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you." But the socialist phrase is usually spat out as if no matter how hard any capable fellow works, he will never be permitted to enjoy the rightful fruits of his labors. Spirit broken, he will be reduced to living in mediocrity from forced sharing with a multitude of slackers.

Liberals naturally see things quite the opposite. They believe that humans were not literally all "created equal" (as some people misinterpret our Declaration of Independence) but that God smiled on some far greater than others. The average and below average people shouldn't' be ground into the dust. Society ought to show compassion.

Liberals see the uber conservatives striving towards an "animal kingdom economy" where the elite capitalists accrue obscene wealth just as the dominant Elephant Seal or Bull Moose obscenely accrues all the aroused females. One must have more respect for the dominant animals though. At least they don't hide their actions behind fake "family values" or a friendly name like "compassionate conservativism." And they don't pretend they are "kinder and gentler" or anything other than what they are.

There's got to be a middle ground for the Republicans where they can state their intentions in a straightforward manner, elevate our society beyond the animal kingdom, and avoid a welfare state. Until they do, web sites such as mine will remain ESSENTIAL.

Party Antagonism

"If the freedom of speech is taken away, then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter."

  George Washington

You'll notice that I rely very heavily on web sources and fringe publications. This is because the main stream news medias have all but capitulated to the conservative monied power brokers. Fortunately, these fringe sources have surprised me in their professionalism and creativity. Hopefully, you'll appreciate them too.
Although much of the writings are my own, I shamelessly borrow the writings and cartoons of others. I don't operate this website for profit but as a public benefit. Regardless, if you would like your creations deleted, please go to my Home Page and contact me at my e-mail address listed therein.
