Mommy's DiaryMonth 20 - He's got his own opinions - First night without mommy - Tiger's potty trained!September 15, 2000Tiger has really got an opinion of his own now. Sometimes when he believes he is right, he will insist his opinion no matter what you say. He will even cry to express his point. Last week we had our vacation in Chicago. He behaved so well on the road. On our way back once he wanted to get out of his carseat while Fan was driving. I asked him "if you get out of the car when we are driving, will you be hit by other cars?" He said, "hit." I asked, "Will it hurt when you are hit by a car?" He said, "hurt." I asked, "Will you cry when you are hurt?" He said, "cry." I said, "No a boy doesn't cry even if he is hurt." He said with greater strength and an accusing accent "Cry!" After a few rounds he started to cry and still insisted "cry" until I give in to him. It's so funny.Last night Tiger was playing with his daddy and he wanted to tell me something. He called me and led to the bedroom. Daddy and I followed him. When he found out that daddy is coming along, he turn around and pushed him away, saying "don't want". Then he led my hands and went on to go to the bedroom. Daddy and I laughed so hard. Tiger is so clear about what he wants and what he doesn't want. He certainly has a leader's characteristics. September 21, 2000I left for DC for two nights on the 19th and the 20th for business. This is the first time that Tiger spend a night without me. When I called home from the hotel, Tiger talked to me through phone. He kept calling "mama, mama, mama ..." Then he said: "Come back." My heart melted. I missed him so much. Fan told me that the first night he cried hard and he finally went to sleep when he is too exhausted from crying. But the second night he was much better. He woke up in the middle of the night and drank up his soy milk and went back to sleep without a fuss. Grandma, instead, didn't sleep much at all because she was waiting for Tiger to cry the entire night. When I came back yesterday, Tiger was so happy. He ran around and found all his little cars and trucks and gave all of them to me. To him I guess these are the most precious things. Then he sat in my arms and then jumped out again. He just could be still. He looked at me and smiled and laughed. I think he just didn't know how to express his happiness. When I took him to bed last night, he laid beside me with one of his cars and drifted to sleep. He seemed so content.
Tiger has grown up a little more also. He has picked up more words. When he gave me all his cars he said, "so many cars!" He actually helped me to unpack. He took my dress from my suitcase and hand it to me when I was hanging up other things. Then he put my shoes to the shoe rack. He is such a good helper! He is more independent also. He likes to go down the steps by himself and he is so proud of himself. If you want to help him he'll push you back saying "don't want mommy". He can get in his shoes himself. When I bend down to tie his shoestrings, he'll stand there and feel he is so tall so he'll pat my head happily. I always tell him to pat my shoulder instead. And I tell him that this means we are good friends. Tiger has known the moon for a long time. And he knows stars from his books. Last week when we were out at the evening, he pointed to the stars and said "moon". I told him that they are stars and I sang the song "twinkle twinkle little star". He loved it so much. He asked me to sing it again and again. When he wants me to sing "itsy bitsy spider" he'll say "spider" and when he wants me to sing "twinkle twinkle little star" he'll say "tinkle tar". October 1, 2000Tiger has started to be potty trained! We have bought a potty seat for him for some time now. Tiger would sit on it and read his books sometimes. But he never peed in the potty. In fact, if he wanted to pee, he would stand up and pee on the carpet. lol. This morning though, he voluntarily sat on the potty, and when we were looking at an ad paper together, he went. I'm so proud of him! He seemed to be pleased with himself too. After I cleaned his potty, he looked into it several times. It seemed that he was really amazed about what happened.October 3, 2000Tiger did it again! I changed his diaper this morning and he told me that he was going to pee. So I said well do you want to try the potty again. So we went to potty and he peed into the potty again. He actually helped me to clean his potty too. I guess this means he is really ready! I'm so glad!Tiger is matured in other aspect also. When he plays with himself, he becomes more creative. And when he is successful in doing something, he stands up and cheers to himself. He used to be pretty shy when dealing with people who he is not very familiar with. He wouldn't let them hold him. Well this few days he becomes quite social, letting other people holding him, talking with them, shaking hands with them. It seems to me that he becomes a bit older now. October 4, 2000It is so easy for Tiger. This morning when we woke up I asked Tiger: "Mommy is going to go potty. Do you want to go?" He said yes so we went to the bathroom, he sat on his potty and he pooped! I'm so surprised to see that this is going so smoothly with him. I'm actually a little at lost about what I should do to catch up with him. Should I buy some training pants for him? I also don't have any other rewards for him other than my happy exclaim. I think you are suppose to give him some stickers but Tiger has never get into those things yet. He may be too young to understand the meaning of those. I guess he just decides to do everything earlier than the majority of the rest. I think I'm going to try to contain my exictment and try to go slow and don't push him. I don't want to blow this off by any kind of pressure on him. I'll try to make this as natural as possible. |
