Dr. Gas grew up in Pasadena, California. In high school, he was captain of the wrestling team and student body president. After high school, he went east and attended Nerw York Univeristy where he majored in the Liberal Arts. He earned his M.D. from Vanderbilt University, completed his residency in internal medicine at USC County Hospital, and was awarded the position of chief resident at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena.

Dr. Gas is now the medical director for the Department of Lactose Intolerance and the former chief of service in the Department of Fart Sciences in Pasadena, CA. He continues to run a private clinical medicine practice and has just been named clinical assistant professor of Lactose Technology at Los Angeles Children's Hospital.

A regular on "Politically Incorrect" and "The View," Dr. Gas has been a guest on numerous national television outlets, including "Larry King Live," and has authored a book with the mascot from Zippo Lighters entitled "Take Advantage of Natural Gas...."

He is a regular contributor to USA Weekend, writing extensively on a variety of topics related to beans, milk, chili, and fresh fruit. He is also a regular columnist for Fart! Magazine. Nick has been profiled in Time, Newsweek, U.S. News & World Report, Premiere Magazine, and other national media outlets.

An avid "one cheek sneak" fan, Dr. Gas lives in Southern California with his wife, Bonnie, and their seven-year-old twins. When not busy with his family, bean garden, or answering user questions, Dr. Gas lectures on the college circuit. He also enjoys spending time with Bonnie and his children, Pilates, and listening to classic fart recordings of the 1950s.
