Scratch Art

"Scratch Art" is created using a special scratch board.
You can make your own by taking a piece of posterboard, coloring heavily over it with many crayon colors,
then painting over the colored layer with a mixture of black poster paint and a couple of drops of dish soap.
Once the paint is completely dry, you take a toothpick and scratch a design on the board.
The black paint will come off and the bright colors underneath will show through.

The steps I used to create this image are listed below. I used Ulead PhotoImpact Version 5.

I will try to write a tutorial for this method when I get some spare time.

Mandys Scratch Art Method

Instructions: For Intermediate PhotoImpact Users.

1. Open a new canvas 400x400 white.
2. Insert a dingbat, 2D Object, Black. Resize to fit, Center on Canvas.
3 Object/Merge all.
4. Edit/Copy. (This will be used later)
5. Apply Particle/Preset Dazzle, (cover entire canvas).
6. Apply Airbrush, Color Black, Size 100, Transparency 40, (cover portions of the canvas).
7. Color Enhancer.
8. Apply Fantastic Machine's Paint Engine/Bloom.
9. Edit/Paste as Object.
10. Format/Invert.
11. Object/Properties/Merge/If Darker
12. Apply Bristle Smear/Preset Fine Smear, Size 60, Level 65, (cover entire canvas, in different directions).
13. Object/Merge all.
14. Edit/Paste as Object.
15. Format/Invert.
16. Object/Properties/Merge/If Darker.
17. Object/Merge all.
18. Color Enhancer.... You're done.
