GESTAPO
(1975)
Starring
Rod Perry and
Charles
P. Robinson

General Ahmed (Perry)
controls the People's Army, a group of blacks helping
blacks with a grant
from the white community. He watches over the city of
Watts, trying to force
equality. However, there is the local (white) mafia
running drugs, numbers,
and prostitution in the black community. When the
white guys harrass a
black nurse ("I never pay more than $10 for black
head."), they've pushed
too far, and the People's Army pushes back. Ahmed's
second-in-command (Robinson
- Mac from "Night Court"!) asks for men for a
protection squad.
Ahmed is hesitant, thinking they might turn into a
vigilante mob, but gives
in. He should have heeded his reservations - the
squad turns into a "black
gestapo", ruling the community with an iron fist.
They take over where
the mafia left off, forcing drugs, numbers, and
prostitution on the
populace, and being quite profitable at it. Once Ahmed
finds out that this
is going on behind his back, he must try to bring down
this military force
... Commando style!
It's not a great blaxploitation
flick, but it's not a horrible one, either.
It kept my interest,
but it's poorly done. Some of the dialogue is funny,
and there a few topless
girls thrown in for good measure. Plus, someone's
nuts get flushed down
a toilet. Other than that, there's not much for any
of you jive turkeys
who are not fans of the genre.
