BLUEBEARD
(1944)
Starring John Carradine

Quick Rating:  **

There's a murderer loose in Paris.  And for some reason he's called Bluebeard.  That's never really explained.

Anyway, there's this girl, and she falls in love with a puppeteer (Carradine) after his marionnette show.  He then kills his partner so that this girl can make costumes for his puppets (or something like that).

Not much else happens.  There's a couple of stranglings, and a mysterious painting.  Oh, and the cops are trying to hunt down Bluebeard.  Nothing overly exciting.  And in the all-too-predictable ending, Bluebeard gets what he deserves.

Carradine gives a good performance, and really looks the part.  The sets and the atmosphere are pretty good in this film.  Otherwise, the plot moves slowly, and isn't all that interesting.
