BRIDE OF RE-ANIMATOR
(1990)
Starring Jeffrey Combs

Quick Rating:  ***

It's 8 months after the events of the first Re-Animator movie.  Apparently, Dr. West and Dr. Cain had survived and are in Peru, where warfare is being conducted.  The two are still experimenting with life and death, and where better than a war zone to find plenty of worthy test subjects?  And there's also some Italian girl with them - her purpose?  future love interest.  But now?  Why is she in Peru?  Who is she?  Why is she with them?

Anyway, the two doctors flee Peru and return to Arkham, where a police lieutenant is still inquiring about the mysterious events of the first film.  Meanwhile, Dr. West, not content with simply re-animating the dead, is now attempting to create life (a la Frankenstein) from dead body parts.  Dr. Cain is reluctant (as always) until West brings out the heart of Meg - Cain's love interest last time around.  He wants to create a woman, with the heart of Meg, and other body parts from various other women (including some poor girl in the hospital who's head is the only thing not sick...  hmmm.  I wonder what part of hers they will use for their creation?)

So, while the doctors are furthering their experiments, the policeman is getting closer and closer to their secret, the Italian lady from Peru (played by Allotta Fagina from Austin Powers!) returns, the infamous Dr. Carl Hill returns (even if it is just his head), and creations from the past come back to haunt them all!

I'd say this flick is right on par with the first.  Same campiness.  Same bad acting.  The script was a little better the first time around, but this one had a little bit more going on.  There's plenty of blood and gore...  some cool special effects include an "eye" spider, the woman creation falling apart, a flying Dr. Hill, and many others.  Nothing too original or outstanding, but a good horror/comedy ride.
