THE CORPSE VANISHES
(1942)
Starring Bela Lugosi

Young brides are dying at the altar - and then their bodies are being
stolen!  Who could be behind such heinous acts?  Why, Bela Lugosi, of
course.  Lugosi plays Professor Lorenz, who along with his henchmen - a
hideous mute freak and a midget, kidnaps the fallen brides for a hideous
plan.  He uses their gland fluid to keep his elderly wife young.  A clue
falls into the hands of a news reporter, who then tracks down the fiend
behind the bride killings.

This isn't a bad movie, but it's certainly not great.  Some bad acting and
cheesy plot points (the "is that a proposal?" love story is laughable) bring
it down, but Lugosi makes it enjoyable.  And, did I mention there's a
midget?  Plus, there's a whipping, a stabbing, a bitchslap, and a
strangling!  A can't-miss for Lugosi fans.
