OF THE DEAD

The retelling of George
Romero's classic actually can hold a candle to the
original.
A perfectly normal woman experiences a perfectly normal day in
her life - staying at
work late, goes home to see her man, enjoys his
company (if you know
what I mean) and falls asleep in his arms. The next
morning, all hell breaks
loose. Literally. The neighbor's little girl
attacks her man, and
he in turn attacks Ana. And it's both bloody and
brutal. Ana barely
escapes to witness her perfect little surburbia turned
into the apocalypse.
Fires, sirens, bloodshed, zombies in the streets,
people being attacked.
It's a nightmare.
She meets up with others
who are trying to fight off the bloodthirsty
zombies, and then end
up hiding in a mall. After disposing of a couple of
zombies (with some great
gore!), they meet up with the mall security, and
make an uneasy alliance.
More "survivors" meet up with them as they all try
to save themselves from
the growing number of the living dead. Eventually
they decide to attempt
fleeing to an island. But it is a risky move and not
all will survive!
I enjoyed this movie.
Yes, there were plot holes, and you often wonder why
characters do what they
do. But I guess it wouldn't be a horror movie
without those.
I liked the fast moving zombies, which definitely heightened
the tension of any encounter
the characters had with them. The gore was
fantastic - tons of
blood, and some gruesome deaths. Plus some powerful
car-on-zombie collisions!
A different movie than the original, but just as
good, and updated for
the 00's. A must see for zombie/gore fans.
