DARKO

Drew Barrymore,
and Patrick Swayze

I was pointed to this
film by a few friends who told me it was my type of
movie. Now, I
enjoy many genres of movies, so I wasn't sure what to expect.
Then I hear about some
giant rabbit... so I'm thinking, "B-Movie, here I
come." But, it
is not a B-movie. It's a bizarre, edgy, and interesting art
film (which does happen
to have a demonic looking giant rabbit). Donnie
Darko is a high school
student plagued with problems, for which he's taking
medications and is in
therapy. Some strange events take place in his life,
possibly in real life,
possibly in dreams, possibly in different
dimensions...
most of the time, you're not sure what's happening - or
what's going to happen.
But you're dying to find out. The performances are
great, as is the look
of the film. The camera angles & movements are very
effective, and the settings
and imagery are beautiful. But it's the series
of events that happen
in this movie which will keep you glued to the seat.
I recommend you see
this movie with some friends, as it will definitely
cause some discussion
and dissection of the film. It raises many questions,
and not all are answered.
