FRIDAY
THE 13TH PART 3
(1982)

It's the day after the
events of Part 2, and yet another group of teens are
coming to Crystal Lake.
At least it's not a camp this time - they're just
coming to a cabin for
the weekend. Meanwhile, Jason is on the loose,
killing locals, and
biker gangs, and then the teens.
Just like Part 2, this
movie starts with flashbacks to remind us about the
last installment.
Do we really need that? The plot is paper-thin, and the
acting is bad.
The characters are not as forgettable as in part 2, but I
wish they were.
You'll be rooting for Jason (if you don't already) to kill
the practical-joke-playing
fat white Jewish kid with an afro, the wacky
store owner who eats
fish food and talks to rabbits, or the Shaggy-wannabe
pothead. And do
we really need another crazy local guy to warn the kids of
the trouble ahead?
This film was originally
in 3-D, and might have looked good in 3-D, but in
2-D, it really suffers.
The coming-at-you jokes and scares are pretty lame.
"Look! I'm yo-yoing
at you in 3-D!" "I'm holding a baseball bat in your
general direction!".
There is a high body count again, but the deaths are
uninspired (with the
exceptions of the spear through the eye, and the
head-squash).
The only significant thing about this movie is that Jason
gets his trademark hockey
mask! Prepare to be confused by the ending which
just pays tribute to
part 1.
Did You Notice:
Is it me, or does Jason's face look very different than it
did in Part 2, which
was only the previous day?
