MOVIES HORRIBLE
HORROR
This is a compilation tape of over 50 bad horror movies from the 30s through the 60s. It's hosted by Zacherley, who was a TV horror host. He must have been out of work in '86 (or at least he better have considering his performance here). The "story" goes like this... Zacherley is leaving his castle, and has to clean out all his crap. He finds a much of old horror movie reels and decides to show them to us. The clips themselves are great. But Zacherley was horrible. It felt like a drunken improv piece. And it was not funny. He just looked around him and would make comments about things he saw in his castle. Follow each horrible joke with an annoying laugh, and you have Zacherley's formula for utter irritation. The clips were great - shots from tons of horror movies - "The Alligator People", "Devil Bat", "Robot Monster", "I Was a Teenage Werewolf", "She Demons", "Attack of the Puppet People" and many more. What was good was they mixed clips of some movies with trailers of others. And they had outtakes from some of the Abbott and Costello horror/comedies, and rare interviews with Bela Lugosi! Plus a short snippet of Lugosi and Boris Karloff playing chess! Some very funny clips - the worst monsters ("Brainiac"), the worst robots ("Santa Claus Conquers the Martians"), the worst special effects ("Bride of the Monster"), the worst lines (Lugosi's tirade in "Glen or Glenda" - "Pull deh ztring! Pull deh ztring!") - they're all here! Plus the hokey gimmicks of trailers - such as the death by fright insuran! ce policy you might need for "The Screaming Skull", the 3-D effects of "13 Ghosts", the giant Alaskan rodent alert of "The Killer Shrews". This is an enjoyable tape, good for a party, and good for previewing some possible future bad movie purchases! If only Zacherley didn't
try to be funny and fail miserably. oh well.
