DEATH
OF THE INCREDIBLE HULK
(1990)
Directed
by Bill Bixby
Starring
Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno

The final TV movie of
the Incredible Hulk franchise is actually better than
its predecessors.
There are no shameless promotions of other comic book
characters. There
is just David Banner (Bixby) and his inner Hulk
(Ferrigno). It's
been 12 years now that Banner has been "cursed", and he
just wants out (as he
always has). He's taken a job as a janitor at a
highly secret laboratory,
and secretly helps out the main doctor, Dr. Pratt,
with his studies at
night. When the doctor finds out, David tells him his
awful secret (it seems
that he must share his secret with at least one
person in each of these
movies), and the doctor tries to help him. On the
night David is to be
cured, a Russian terrorist breaks into the lab and
interrupts the procedure
(natch). After the Hulk botches her plans, the
terrorist and her comrades
kidnap Dr. Pratt with the hopes of getting his
secrets. David
is then forced to team up with the sexy spy (and he always
has to fall in love
in each of these movies) to free the doctor, and
hopefully, free David
from his afflication.
The story really focuses
on Mr. Banner and his struggles to lose the
uncontrollable monster
within him. And there's plenty of subterfuge and
high techary. And plenty
of the green guy - five times he turns into the
Hulk! There are
definitely holes in the story, and the acting isn't all
that great (but better
than the last few hulk flicks). It has the look of a
TV movie (it is one),
especially with the special effects. It's a sad film,
mostly because Bill
Bixby himself died a couple of years afterward, and
there can be no more
Incredible Hulk (well, except for the up-to-date 2003
film, and its probable
sequels).
