LEPRECHAUN: BACK 2 THA HOOD
(2003)
Starring Warwick Davis & Sticky Fingaz

Quick Rating : *

The Leprechaun is back, back in the hood, in this installment, the sixth, of the Leprechaun series.  A priest is battling our short serial killer, and banishes him into the earth, in the hood.  A year later, 4 young urban folks discover the little dude's gold, and they go all out spending the loot.  They buy cars and clothes and drugs.  And one girl even turns a gold coin into a gold tooth.  How ghetto!  So, surprise, the Leprechaun doesn't like other people pawing his gold, and he's got to kill them all.  Not much else to the story.  What do you expect from a movie in the Leprechaun series?

The acting isn't impressive, but isn't horrible either.  The plot is simple and straightforward, but better than previous Lep movies.  Warwick is fine as the Irish killer, but he doesn't have many lines.  No humerous limericks this time around.  The funniest (take that with a grain of salt) thing he says is when talking on a cell phone to a girl, after she asks how tall he is - "I'm 3-foot-6, but I make up for it other areas, if you know what I mean."  Yes, we know what you mean, Leppie.  He's got the big bucks, that's what he means.  Anyway, if anything, Leprechaun: Back 2 Tha Hood gives us an interesting look into the lives of young black people in the ghetto.  They'll all concerned with cars, clothes and drugs, and their actions/speech are full of violence, swears, and attitudes.  Talk about perpetuating stereotypes.

Not too many laughs, not too much gore, but not mind-numbingly painful either.  Just a very blah horror movie.
