ONCE UPON A TIME IN CHINA II
(1992)

Starring Jet Li

My hopes were high after the first OUATIC, and while this sequel has much in
common with the original, it's just not as good.  In this installment, Wong
Fei-Hung travels to Canton (along with goofy Foon and the lovely Yee) to
demonstrate his skills in acupuncture.  However there is civil unrest in
Canton, as the strange White Lotus Clan is trying to start a revolution to
preserve the beloved Chinese heritage against the foreign devils.  And
fighting ensues.

The fighting is great (of course), although not quite to the level of the
first.  Some of the action - the White Lotus leader demonstrating his
invincibility by having henchmen stab him with rubber swords, or kick him in
the crotch - is laughable.  The scenes are well done & well choreographed,
but still not as good as the first.  This movie is still enjoyable, and if
you liked the first one, you'll like this one too.  It just doesn't have the
same feeling as the original.
