A war hero from the Mexican-American war was honored for what was truly his cowardice.  He is sent to an isolated outpost in the Sierra Nevadas, where a small team of people struggle through the winter to keep the fort going.  Once a stranger wanders onto the property and tells stories of cannibalism, the troop bravely set out to look for survivors.  Unfortunately for them, the cannibals are still out there.

This movie has a style and a story that set it apart from other movies.  It was really well done, and unique.  The beautiful backdrop also contributes to this well-shot movie.  The story keeps morphing as it goes, keeping you interested.  And the idea of the wendigo - a man eating another's flesh to gain his power and his soul - was well-portrayed.  I thought the acting was great too (Even Arquette who thankfully had a small role).
