STRIKE OF DEATH
(1975)
Written and Directed by John Woo
Starring Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung,
John Woo and "Flash Legs" Tan

To me, this was just a run-of-the-mill chop-socky flick.  There was a
paper-thin plot, strung together to justify the martial arts sequences.  Of
course we have plenty of poor English dubbing, loud ridiculous sound
effects, and martial artists beating all kinds of odds.  But there was
nothing extra - nothing special.  Unless you count the cast.  A young Jackie
Chan and Sammo Hung and even John Woo himself, all of whom became famous
worldwide as their careers went on.

A group of warriors come together and train, to prepare to take revenge on
an evil traitor.  And there's some flashbacks.  And fighting.  Hands, feet,
swords, spears, shafts, all sorts of stuff - but nothing outrageous.  It's
the outrageous stuff I like to see in this films.  So, this really didn't do
it for me.
