WRONG TURN
(2003)
Starring Eliza Dushku
Quick Rating: *
Kids get deserted in the hills of a secluded area and are attacked by inbred
mutants. Hmm, have I seen this movie before? No, it must be the
countless other movies that have almost exactly the same plot! Wrong
turn is full of slasher movie cliches... lost in the woods, fake scares,
killer popping up behind someone walking backwards, kids ignoring police
reports on the radio, people not following their best judgments, the fake
deaths, mutated inbred hillbillies. It goes on and on. You'll
swear you've seen this movie before. And you have. Every scene
is taken from some other (and probably better) movie.
Anyway, as the story goes, some dude is driving 2 maybe 3 hours to
an appointment (?) and he's going to be late. He attempts to take a
backwoods road. Hey, buddy, you're in West Virginia - stick to the
highways! Anyway, he gets distracted, and BOOM smashes into another
car. This stopped truck had five friends in it, out in the woods ready
to have a good time, but they ran over some razor wire, and they left their
car in the road. Luckily they weren't in it when "speed racer" rammed
into it. So, now the group searches for help on foot. They come
to a cabin, which seems to be empty... and what do they do? Walk right
in. Of course! A disgusting array of knick knacks fill the stanky
abode - toys, tools, body parts in jars... the usual. Once they figure
out that they probably don't want to be in this house, that's when the owners
are coming home.
For the rest of the movie, the home owners (three ugly, but incredibly strong
and hard to kill mutant inbred hillbillies) chase the kids through the woods,
trying to kill them, chop them up, and add them to their collections.
Nothing really of note from this film. Kind of a disappointment.
It was shot decently, with many scenes looking cool, just with no real suspence
or surprises. Some gore, but not enough to save the film. You
can pass on this one.
