SYNOPSIS: The scene is an isolated research station in Navada where a group of scientists and engineers are building a specially designed instrument-rocket intended to ascend to an altitude of 22,000 miles above the Earth's surface, where it will remain forever rotating round our planet. Conway, just appointed as administrative security officer, notices tension among the staff as the date of launching grows near. Raymond Colby, a rocket engineer, has obviously fallen in love with Marion, wife of George Hills, chief
electronics engineer, who (strangely enough) does not seem to object. Then Hills and Colby quarrel. Something goes wrong with the first rocket after launching; and it is found that Marion and Colby have disappeared. Has a
double murder been committed? If so, have the bodies been concealed in the rocke, which is circling the earth at a considerably lower altitude than was planed?
Such is the startling plot of this exceellently written mystry story, which builds up to a gripping climax involving a second
rocket with a man inside it.
