"Whats
Scary on TV...?" Whats scary on TV...? I mean besides the layer of dust an inch thick and the cable boxes that watches you ? The immediate response is probably, "Not much." Anthology shows like Fox's 2001 series "Night Visions" don't pull down the numbers to support their production costs ( at least thats the "official" line), and mini-series' of the "Rose Red" quality are few and far between. You may be saying, "Here it is again, the insipid whining of another horror fan who looks to the tube and sees scant reflection of his particular, twisted tastes." Well, ok, maybe you wouldn't use the word "scant"--but nonetheless, you would be right. I am that insipid, perennial whiners. So by way of attempting to beat that dead horse to water again, No, folks, not going to attempt to beat that dead horse into drinking water -- this time around, anyway. Put simply, what's scary on tv is the lack of much of anything scary. Britain and Canada each have their own versions of the Sci-Fi Channel format that differ a lot from the one we see here on U.S. cable. What is different about them? They are ENTERTAINING! Our culturally similar Brit and Canadian cousins network counterparts it appears, haven't lost their sense of humor, or their sense of daring.
