Horrorhosts was founded on this day in 1999. Happy Anniversary!

Significent salvos of postings were lobbed back and forth by the cyber-denizens of HORRORHOSTS, as they are always order of the day! They did the 'Walk Like An Egyptian' Mummy Shuffle down MEMORY LANE (who might
pass for LOIS LANE'S older sister...her much, much, older sister!) These staunch die-hards, who are, still, 4 years later, graciously connected with the daily doings on the Website, shared their first postings of All Things PEEPS, er, uh, I mean HORROR HOSTS. OK!! OK!! OowwW!! CURTIS, STOP TWISTING MY ARM!!!
Sheesh, that really hurt! Take it easy, woncha?!
I'll 'fess up, ya don't hafta get so brutal!
*ahem*... OK!...

What do I remember? And, since
this topic conveniently falls in line with the other
branches of historical diatribe that is RANT RELEVANT,
I shall 'Hold Court' (wish it was HAZEL COURT! M-m-m!)
and, dive deeply into the sedimentary sludge of these
long-forgotten postings, to re-construct them as a
DINOSAUR-ian Exhibit of Fossilized Fact. Hopefully,
the Lighting is better here.

"ALAS, POOR (PRE-HISTORIC) YORICK"
My first posting to Horrorhosts came about as a
result to an earlier surprise. A little more than two
decades after my stint as BARON Von WOLFSTEIN And CO.,
I was again living in Bloomington, Indiana, and, in
regular communication with MICHAEL B. WHITE, Olde
Friend, True Brother, and, highly Respected Technical
Director of our Show on Ch.4 back in AD 1978.
Michael has headed up Ch. 3, CATS, the public
access station at the Monroe County Library for nearly
20 years, taking over that post after Ch 4's
Bloomington Facility was closed down by the new
management.

Walking into his office one day, in the early dawn
of this new millenium, he smiled as he handed me a
scrap of computer-generated paper.
Upon that paper were submissions from fans whose
names I recognized from a quarte of a century
previously. They'd written letters to the BARON,
ROBIN, CARLYLE, and The evil VAMPIRE COUSIN.
These olde viewers remembered Our Show after 23
years, and, were only too happy to offer all that they
could re-collect to E-GOR'S CHAMBER OF TV HORROR HOSTS
Website. In order to reconcile some misinformation
within their accounts, I had to become user-friendly
with the computer.

Tis task, aided by dear olde friend, RAY JORDAN,
Jr, who willingly set up my first e-mail address,
allowed Me to take My Inaugural Spin around
Cyber-space that very afternoon. Here is the Content,
which The BARON inscribed unto E-GOR:

My Initial Missive,
Hi-ho Chappies and Monster Lovers, Baron von
Wolfstein here.

And an especially Benevolent Greeting to you,
Cousin E-Gor. I humbly note that you are responsible
for safe-guarding and revealing the lost lore from the
days of Yore, when Monsterdom was in flower.
Please convey, if you are so able, to all my olde
friends who seek my whereabouts, the fact that,
indeed, Baron von Wolfstein has re-surfaced in the
world of mortal ken. I am proud to be so honoured as
to live in the hearts and minds of such fine folk for
now more than two decades.

It seems nearly inconceivable that 22 years have
elapsed, since last I had contact with those
interested in our Realm.

Much to communicate, so little space and time to do
so in this present missive. Meanwhile, fondest regards
to all from Carlyle, the Invisible Wizard, Robin
Graves, the Cockney grave-robber, and "Stinky" (the
guy chained up in the catacombs of Castle von
Wolfstein.)

Until I receive your response, Have a good night,
and a pleasant sleep.

EXANIMO,
Baron von Wolfstein

I'm happy to report that E-GOR was most Affirmative
to My 'intrusion' into His Web-Life, and, that we
began fairly intense correspondence, with him
promising to create a website for The BARON & CO.
Whilst browsing E-GOR'S Website on the day of July
26th, AD 2001, I noticed a little Red Button (no, not
the comedian; He is Red Buttons, and that's plural.
Can you imagine how many RED BUTTONS It takes to
Make ONE COMEDIAN? That's like Asking:
"How many HORROR HOSTS does it take to Screw in a
Light bulb?!" The Answer Might SHOCK You!!!)
"How many HORROR HOSTS does it take to Screw Up a
Light bulb?!" Only one, we're really that talented!
"How many HORROR HOSTS does it take to Screw in a
Light bulb?!" HORROR HOSTS don't generally SCREW IN A
Light Bulb, because, if if it breaks while they're
'gettin' down to business', it's a long fall to the
floor.

Oowweee!

But, I digress, This Particular Red Button, which I
beheld, said JOIN THE HORROR HOSTS.
So, being the gullible type, I pressed it, and, the
rest, as 'THEY' say, is HYSTERICAL...or, something to
that effect.

Perusing the volumninous amount of e-missives that

BIT, of time; however, persuant to this e-, how about:
I COULD DIE WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FIENDS?
Monster-ously it's so much more correct. More soon.

Then we can play the music and have all of us do our

Mon Jun 25, 2001 8:36 pm Looking for Suggestions

Dear Fiends,
I wanted to say how much I've been enjoying the
posts lately and how glad I am to have discovered this
list. Nice to know there are others out there who
share the same sort of "mono-maniacal" desire to
realize their dream job......hosting horror movies!
As a relative new-comer (although a life-long fan),
it does my black heart good to see so many of you out
there actually "making it".

That being said.......I come before this august
body of freaks today to humble ask for some
suggestions derived from your greater knowledge and
wisdom.

I've gotten the go-ahead to produce a few episodes
of my "Full Moon Theater" , hosted by my reluctant
werewolf: Lyle Thorpe, for the local public access
channel. Well....it wasn't so much a "go-ahead" as a
"if you'll un-shackle yourself from my desk, I'll let
you do it". Lyle is basically a decent guy trying to
make it in the 9 to 5 world with the minor drawback of
the fur, the fangs, and the howling. He hates being a
werewolf and openly longs to be a vampire (they get
all the girls) or dead.......preferably BOTH. He lives
in a normal middle-class house which he rents along
with his roommate, Ed (who is "normal" but a bit of a
slacker and not too interested in much of anything
going on around him).

Ed is a source of constant annoyance to Lyle, since
Ed refuses to believe in werewolves and only thinks
that Lyle has gotten a really bad haircut.
Lyle's master-plan (the "reason for the movies")
is, after a long day working at the phone company, to
either find some information in an old movie that will
tell him how to end it all/become a vampire or to find
a movie so BAD that it will destroy him forever. (P.S.
if any of this steps on anyone else's ideas or is/has
been used...........please let me know).
Hopefully you've stayed with me this far.......
because here is where I'm needing some advice.......
Most of the other issues I have well in hand......
sets are ready.....basic script outlines are
written....music will be preformed by my band: D.C.
Moon (southern sci-fi and horror rock and roll since
1987)......make-up is by our bass player Ricky Lee
(who's SO good.......making me into a slightly seedy
"Werewolf of London" in less than 30 minutes!).......
and now, finally, a place to air it!
So any help you noble brotherhood(& sisterhood) of
horror hosts can be, will be greatly appreciated (and
duly credited!).

I shall return to reading the enjoyable posts on
the horror host serial and kicking myself for not
being ready in enough time to contribute! I hope to
eventually meet all of you at one Con or another as I
start to finally devote my life and my resources to
the world I know and love best....the world of the
horror host!

I remain, as always,
Obediently Yours,
Lyle Thorpe

Wow! Thanks Professor! That means alot coming from
a pro like yourself. I just hope I don't let the side
down:) To quote a great musician: "There's
a fine line between stupid and clever."

I know what you mean........but I'm enough of an
egotist not to want it any other way! If I could only
find a way to be in front of the camera and behind it
as well! I do have a great bunch of guys willing to
help out all in the name of doing something creative
..... and that is a HUGE plus.

Again I say WOW! You are a credit to the cause!
Likewise, if there is anything I can ever do in my
small way to help you or any of the great people
here......I'm ready, willing, and able. Nothing will
stop me.....because I have the simple faith and
courage of the truely delusional......

Got that already planned:) Ready to have my head
locked down and put through the wringer........ahhhh
........I love the smell of spirit-gum in the morning!

> I don't think I've ever heard of a werewolf host

I've yet to run across one in my readings......
maybe it seems too limiting because of the makeup.. I
know I'm having a hard time finding fangs that look
good AND I can deliver lines clearly through....and
werewolves are sadly lagging behind in movie monster
popularity....all of which played into this role being
created. He always gets the fuzzy end of the lollipop!

Greetings
And your very welcome. Always excited to meet and
work with another horror host/ monster fan. Tell
me,..where are you from?

Oh, and I applaud your design on the effects of the
full moon, Henry Hull's make-up was a simpler design
but just as effective, plus it allows for amore
free-expression of your face. I also thought of The
Monster Club the anthology Amicus movie based on the
works of R Chetwyn Hayes.(Sp?) There is a werewolf who
the the club elected speaker/leader..the funny part
about him is that he wore thick coke bottle
lenses/black horn rim glasses. A werewolf with eye
trouble!

Anyway I wish you the best of luck and do send a
picture of yourself in costume and make-up to Count
Gore's picture page of list members.
Can't wait to hear more!
Rest in Peace
Prof. Griffin

First off, hey Lyle ! Welcome to the group and to
the wild world of hosting. Very nice touch with the
sympathetic Reluctant Werewolf approach. Most of us
-- well, ok , I'll just speak for myself --- Ghastlee
is for the most part a smart-aleck. When bad things
happen to him, the audience is glad! Or does Lyle
become a wise-ass when the Full Moon hits him?
Sorry if you've covered this already. My computer
is SO slow! (HOW SLOW IS IT?) It's slower than the
pulse-rate of a month-old frozen corpse who died of
a tranquilizer overdose. It's really slow, and it
would literally take all night to scan back through
the messages related to you original one.
Robin, you can vouch for me on that one. It takes a
good 5 to 7 minutes to log in somedays! Ok, WAY off
track...

The only werewolf character I've ever seen was a
guy that no one else seems to have heard of, Baron Von
Wolfstein, from Indianapolis/Bloomington. He may have
even been an incarnation of Sammy Terry; the actor's
features were similar.

All these new shows starting up! As Dr. Creep would
say, " Fan-tastic!" It is indeed a great time to be
undead!

Best witches on your show Lyle, it sounds like you
are off to a stellar start and have a formidable
arsenal of films to back you up. Here's another
resource you may want to investigate:

Keep the Moonshine on your face and the wolf's-bane
