"THE ATTACK OF THE FLASHBACK SNACK"

"Dear FANG-MILY,

FLASHBACK was a very good experience! Of the 3
conventions, which it has now been my pleasure to
attend (Thanks, GHASTLEE!), FLASHBACK offered some
really great opportunities for personal interaction.
My insights & memories are as follows:

FLASHBACK is a small show; more akin to a snack
than to the Smorgasbord of CINEMA WASTELAND. THE BONE
JANGLER and I discussed this. There seems to be the
quandary of BIG TOWN (CHICAGO) and small crowds,
probably the result of poor advertising, I'd hazard to
guess; although there may be something in the CHI'TOWN
mentality that doesn't lend itself receptive to the
Convention atmosphere.

It was populated by some charming guests, both
paid, and, gratis, who carried on, bravely, and, with
convivial fellowship.

TOM SULLIVAN, EVIL DEAD ARTIST, whose genuine &
generous good-heartedness blessed me, and, KEN FOREE,
were the week-end's stand-outs to me. I met many other
truly interesting, &, wonderful folks with whom I hope
to build stronger bonds of creativity and net-working
for the good of the genre and of us all.

The weekend could as easily been dubbed "FLASHBULB"
(as in "LIGHTS, CAMERA... ACTION!") because plenty of
Photo-Ops occurred, the images of which will doubtless
end up in multiple scrapbooks and VHS/DVDs! This will
serve to further varnish, tarnish, and, otherwise
expandingly gild the illustrious legend that HORROR
HOSTS are a zany crowd, who know how to give 'Good
Face'. I think that we're perceived as a welcome
addition to spicing up the Convention venue.

Hopefully, our continued appearances will generate
an enlarged Fan-Base, which is always preferable to an
enlarged prostate....

Seeing THE BONE JANGLER And NOCTURNA again, in the
flesh,(don't worry, I only saw them with their clothes
on!) and, partaking of their genuinely high-spirited
fellowship proved, once again, to be the delight and
pleasure that it always is; far superior to the best
MERLOT... and, you know how I love MERLOT!

Meeting others of their talented retinue, THE
DEACON, and, young Bob, also added to the immensely
enjoyable time I had.

To be, at last, in the Illustrious Presence of
COUNT GORE DeVOL, and, his charming Vife, SUSAN, was
the Treat of Treats for this convention go-round! We
went for the jocular, mayhaps, more often than we went
for the jugular, and, a splendid time was had by all!
He's everything that GHASTLEE told me he was,
except the part about his multiple personalities! ;^}

SHAPE-SHIFTING Into the Personalities and guises of
both BARON Von WOLFSTEIN, And, JOE NOSFERATU, HOMELESS
VAMPIRE guaranteed a 'Never a Dull Moment' experience;
it added to the instant bondings with the convention
stars and visitors alike. Plus, THE BONE JANGLER And
NOCTURNA, KEN KISH (PAM was in absentia 'holding down
the sales fort') as well as TOM SULLIVAN, all added
their inimitable talents to the movie we're making!

Well, I'd hoped to extend our influence into THE
MONSTER BASH Territory, but, a last-minute financial
flub on my part denied this year's potential. My dear
Brother, E-GOR, shall be carrying on there in my
absence, sowing seeds of the Von WOLFSTEIN & HHU
Variety. The plethora of HORROR HOSTS in attendance
there this year will do us all proud, I'm sure:

GHOUL-A-GO-GO, DOCTOR GANGRENE, CARPATHIAN And THE
PATIENT CREATURES, SON OF GHOUL, CHILLY BILLY
CARDILLE, CRYSTAL GHOULERY, etc...

So, now, 'tis on to HORRORFIND, and, then, in the
culmination of this convention year, there is, of
course, CINEMA WASTELAND, which, as all of you know by
now, is replete with The-Once-In-A-Thousand-Lifetimes
Event: The MARRIAGE Of SUSPIRA And A.GHASTLEE
GHOUL(Kathy & Bob)!

Not to mention the staggering list (and, I'm
certain that, before the weekend's final moments,
we'll all be guilty of staggering a bit!) of 16 HORROR
HOSTS (and, counting...)

Well, hope the whiff off my observations provided
you with a momentary high; I'll smile for years to
come just thinking about My FLASHBACK... hmmm, I must
be having a FLASHBACK! It was so much fun, I think

I'll have another!
