Svengoolie
"Svengoolie"
"CALLING
ALL STATIONS, CLEAR THE AIRLANES, CLEAR ALL AIRLANES, FOR THE BIG
BROADCAST!!!"
Wearing a black top hat, coat, and makeup, Svengoolie
has been hosting movies and entertaining viewers in Chicago off and
on since 1979. Originally working as a writer and assistant for
Jerry G. Bishop, (the original Svengoolie), Rich Coz inherited the
reins and name in 1979, and struck out as Son of Svengoolie with a
program of the same title. He was a success and later dropped the
"Son of" from his name to coincide with a move to another
station (WCIU-TV Chicago). The show is now simply called "Svengoolie,"
and continues to host horror movies and toss rubber chickens every
Saturday afternoon.
