SPOOKY
MOVIE: 2008 - THE 3RD ANNUAL WASHINGTON, D.C. INTERNATIONAL
HORROR FILM FESTIVAL is thrilled to announce the Washington,
D.C. premiere of the new award winning Australian film
NO THROUGH ROAD as our opening night feature on Thursday,
October 16 at 7:00 p.m.
Winner
of the 2008 WA Screen Awards for Best Director, Best Actor,
Best Editing, and Best Sound., NO THROUGH ROAD is a modern
indie masterpiece - one of the most gripping tales of
terror you will see this year!
The
serenity of a yet another quiet evening alone is shattered
for amateur photographer, Richard (James Helm). Desperate,
frightened and uninvited, Samantha (Megan Palinkas) has
taken refuge in Richard's sprawling, suburban home. Is
there substance to her fear and paranoia, or are substances
the cause? Is her arrival a break-in or an escape? As
she seeks salvation from savage retribution, Richard is
forced to fight Samantha's battle for survival in order
to save his home, his life and his sense of humanity.
Only dawn will reveal the blood-soaked fallout of being
alone in the middle of suburbia.
For
the third year in a row, THE SPOOKY MOVIE FILM FESTIVAL
is proud to have the one and the only Count Gore De Vol
on hand to host our opening night festivities. A Washington,
D.C. institution for over 35 years, the Count has recently
begun his year long 10th anniversary celebration as the
internet's first Horror Host - predating YouTube, MySpace,
iTunes and TiVO, and long before Podcasting and Video
On Demand were commonplace, there was a vampire with a
camera, a website and a revolutionizing concept of television
over the internet. We are thrilled the Count will be with
us once more - it wouldn't be Opening Night without him!
Preceding
NO THROUGH ROAD will be an eclectic selection of four
amazing short films: the animated short BACK TO LIFE,
a modern underground classic FOET, the hysterically subversive
THE SLEUTH INCIDENT and the grisly new Spanish entry SNIP.
Australia and Spain are two of 11 countries represented
by this year's selections; over40 feature films and shorts
will be screened during five days and nights of THE 2008
SPOOKY MOVIE FILM FESTIVAL. Admission to this block is
$8.00; an All-Fest Passes, good for all five days of the
festival is now available at the Cinema Arts Box Office
or through the website for only $30.00.
