western bridle Which Bridle, Saddle, or Show clothing you use depends on which type of show you want to enter. If you want to go in a western event, your best option would be to buy a western bridle like the one left. If you want to go in an English event, or gymkhana, a bridle like the one on the right would be the best. This type of bridle is called an English bridle.

Which ever type of event you choose to enter, the colour of the tack is an important factor when entering any show.  Generally you should attempt to make everything match.

For example, if you have a black leather saddle, a black leather bridle would match very well. If you have a lot of silver, keep silver throughout anything new you may buy (such as a silver coloured bit, silver buckles, silver stirrup irons, silver buttons on the clothing you wear.)
A show judge likes to see riders and horses who are neatly turned out. If everything matches, this shows to the judge that effort has been put into the preparation of the show.

english bridle What if I don't know what sort of coloured leather will suit my horse? Horses who are white in colour suit black leather really well, however a chestnut coloured horse would suit brown or havannah leather better.

It is mostly all personal choice, but as a general rule, brown goes with brown and anything else goes with black.
