We wonder why in our brief lives we’re expected to build a mighty empire, To build up a collection of every earthly possession we desire. Will I ever see a time when we will be happy with what we’ve got? When happiness comes from inside and not from materials we’ve sought. We wonder why no one will reach out a hand and help their neighbor, It’s because we’re taught that one’s self is number one and nothing else is worth extra labor. Will I ever see a time when someone puts themselves out for another? How I wish that people would treat each other like a sister or bother. We wonder why the world is so full of hate, It’s because we condemn others for their own beliefs and faith. Will I ever see a time when people can believe what they want without persecution? If we say they can’t believe what they want then who’s to say we are right in our institutions? We wonder why we see so much hate based on our skin tone, Why is biased animosity towards those who are different to often condoned? Will I ever see a time when people will walk hand in hand? A time when sex, race, and creed is as unimportant as shortage of sand? We wonder what is wrong with the world today. Wondering does nothing to change the world’s ways. Will I ever see without looking through tears? Will I ever see without acting in fear? Will I ever see? ~
