| Ding..... Then the sweet music that I picked out for the door bell. Oh my, they are here. Ok, answer the door and stay calm and collected. At the door I open to see all my friends and someone new? "Hey everyone come on in. Sorry it's not as...." Oh no, Nick the new person was Nick. Now what am I going to do, I thought. I look out to see worried faces.
"Nikki, hunny, are you ok?" "Huh, oh, yeah I'm fine...Who the new guy?" I asked knowing who he was. OH, this is Nick; we met after the bar closed. He was out by our cars." "Oh, why is he here?" "Well, he said that you and him were old friend from your younger child years and he remembered it was you birthday. So, I invited him here as a gift for you" "Thank you, yeah thank you, Jory" What else could I say. Say no we just met. Of course not I could not do that. Why must he lie? Did he fall for me as fast as I fell for him? Ok keep calm, "Hello, Nick, it's been awhile." With a nod he said 'yes'. "Well, come in, come in. Would anyone like a drink? All I have in soda, water, and tea." They all said tea. "Ok the cake's there, you know where the sitting area is, I'll be back in a minute." I went to the kitchen, Nick followed. Once there I asked, “Why, why did you join them? Are you trying to cause me trouble?" "No I....." He started but the doorbell rang before he finished. Great who was here now? “Can you bring this tea to the guys?" Nods. "I'll get the door." As I was walking to the door, Nick carried the tray of tea out. "Hello, welcome.., oh, ma." Wait ma, how am I going to explain the bracelet now? “What are you doing here ma? You weren't to be here until next week." "Well, today is your birthday and I got some extra money. Where did you get that bracelet?" "Oh, I thought you sent to me in the mail." I lied. "Nope, I never seen it before...Maybe your dad." "Yeah, it must have been." I stated, I thought thank you ma now I can say dad sent it. Now, I know damn well that my father would never send me something like this. I can pull the lie off because I have hardly ever talked about him. "Well, come in ma, some friends of mine and I were just about to have tea and cake." "Umm, well, if you have friends over, I'll just go to your brother's. He's only about an hour away." "Oh, I'll call you later. Sorry, it's just I wasn't expecting you this week."
