Charlie Chaplin

Known as "the superstar" of silent comedy.
The most famous character Charlie played was "The Tramp".
Charlie was a United States resident from 1914 to 1952, but always kept his British nationality.  During the age of McCarthyism Charlie was accused of un-American activity.  He was a suspected sympathiser to the communists.  Hoover had the FBI keep secret files on Mr. Chaplin to end his United States residency.  In 1952 Charlie Chaplin left the United States on his own.
