In February 1991, Tetsu formed L'Arc~en~Ciel with Hyde on vocals, Hiro on guitar, Tetsu on bass, and Pero on drums. The name L'Arc~en~Ciel means "the ark in the sky" or literally "Rainbow" in french. In 1992, the guitarist, Hiro, left the band and tetsu called his childhood friend Ken right away to replace him for alive performance that's upcoming, then Ken officially joined the band (he didn't finish architecture because of joining the band, because of this, his parents did not talk to him until year 2000!). In December 30, the drummer, Pero, left the band after a live performance at Osaka Music Hall. Tetsu then called up Sakura and asked him to be their drummer (rumors said that they really don't know Sakura, they just heard that he is a great drummer who plays in another town). In January 16,1993, Sakura officially joined the band. Unfortunately, in 1997, Sakura was arrested for possession of illegal drugs, and he left L'Arc~en~Ciel on November 1997. Due to this problem, their upcoming single "4th avenue cafe" was canceled (that's why there are only 4 episodes in Rurouni Kenshin with 4th avenue cafe). Their performances and activities were stopped. After a few months, the band stood up again to face their fans with their new drummer Yukihiro, an ex-member of "dies in cries". L'Arc~en~Ciel came back in their Reincarnation '97 Live in Tokyo Dome and tickets were all sold out in four minutes. This event was followed with their singles, albums, concerts and other live performances that kept the fans asking for more. After so many years of trials and challenges, here's L'Arc~en~Ciel, one of the top rock bands in Japan.
