Saline Hot Springs near Death Valley
Saline Valley *is* called the road to hell ... or is
it road from hell? Anyways, it's near Death
Valley. Actually, the park annexed it and it is now
part of Death Valley. It's something like 40 miles of
washboard (I'm not sure of the exact number). It is well worth the drive! But you'll want to stay
for at least the weekend. Many different pools to
experience. And of course, no clothing is required unless you feel
a little too chilly at night (which happens in Feb!).
There's plenty of hiking and 4-wheeling. There's
out-side showers (you should see the view!) Have you
ever experienced a shower while enjoying a view of the
mountains?
The source is completely plumbed to pools and the
water is safe to drink.
What more can I say ... you're missing one of the best
hot springs on earth!! I'll have to look up the directions at home ... but
basically, you go up 395 and turn east at Olancha.
Then turn north on Saline Valley Road. Eventually you
go past some sand dunes and come to an intersection
(hard to describe exactly) and turn east. The best
way to go the first time is to follow someone who's
already been there.
