Alfredo De La Fe

  • Too Hot To Trot is Alfredo's cult hit

    Alfredo De La Fé was born in Cuba on 1954 from a family of musicians. He begins studing music in La Havana, at the Conservatory Amedeo Roldan, when he is only 7 years old. At the age of 11 he moves to New York City where he plays Mendelsson and Tchaikovski at the Carnegie Hall; this earns him a scholarship for the Jullian arts in New York.
    In the same year he enters the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, the year after he plays with José Fajardo Orchestra, changing his musical taste from classic to salsa.
    From thereon he plays with the big stars of salsa, like Celia Cruz, Cheo Feliciano, Hector Lavoe, Fania All Stars, Ismael Miranda, Charanga 76, between others; in 1972 he meets Eddie Palmieri, who will help him to become the first solo violin in a salsa orchestra.
    In 1976 he moves again, this time to San Francisco, where he plays with Santana for almost a year. Back again to New York City he begins playing with Tipica 73. In 1979 he performs his first LP, Alfredo, for whom he gets 3 Grammy nominations, with one song from the LP, "Hot to Troz", in the USA Top 50. "Salsa All Stars", producing 40 records for Roberto Torres, Papalto, Henry Fiol, Charanga 76, etc.
    In 1980 he performs 2 LPs: Para Africa con Amor and Alfredo De La Fé and Charanga 1980. One year later he has a group of his own, and he records Triunfo, n. 2 in Europe and Latin American top hits. In 1983 he gets a contract for a 3 weeks tour in Colombia and decides to move that beautiful country. In 1984 he performs Made in Colombia, whose single "La Botja del Abuelito" becomes a hit. In 1990 Alfredo records his first 2 LPs produced by Discos Fuentes, Salsa and Los Violines de Alfredo De La Fé with some of the most famous song of Cuban tradition.
    His last CD La Salsa De Los Dioses is been published worldwide by Discos Fuentes in 1995, and the hit "Ya no te estoy creyendo" is one of the most played in salsa radio circuit.
    During his last Europe tour in summer 1995 he played in all the most important festivals in Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, meeting everywhere a series of successes.
