Music Institute 1987 - 1989?
Alton Miller, along with friends, set out to recreate the energy they experienced in the clubs, by opening the world renowned dance club the Music Institute in Detroit. The Music Institute was one of the epicenters of the underground House movement where Alton and Chez Damier shared residency on Saturday nights creating the musical volcano that erupted worldwide in 1988.
Well only one person showed up with the answer for the question last night,
and that was the always groovin & movin' Vanessa... So that girl earned
herself a great book... Only I didn't see her before she left, so, I still
need to get it to her... For those who care the question was...
>>>1988 a club opened in Detroit called The Music Institute and had regular
sets by DJ's such as D Wynn, Alton Miller, Derrick May, and Chez Damier...
Unfortunately techno didn't have the staying power in Detroit it was finding
in other parts of the world... On the last night of the club on November 24,
1989, what Derrick May track did Derrick May play to close out the existance
of the MI??<<<<
The answer is...
"Strings of Life" by Rhythim is Rhythim (Derrick May)
I also played it last in my set last night... Maybe I'll do another
question next week for $3 admission... We'll see.. Keep on the lookout...
And continually educate yourself...
