Founder - Cheryl Marcus - Organised support for people in the UK with lupus was started in 1978 by the formation of the British SLE Aid Group

Hon. Life President - Dr. Graham RV Hughes MD FRCP

Patrons - The Baroness Brigstocke, Lesley Collier CBE, Professor Peter Lachmann FRS, Gwyneth Strong

Trustees - Ronnie Gourley Chairman, Yvonne Norton Vice Chairman, Gerald Ansell Secretary, Martin Marcus Treasurer, Colin Rotbart, Brian Shubrook

Director - Brian Hanner - Cares for Lupus UK’s day-to-day activities with the support of the Head Office staff.

National Council - Governs the charity and is made up of the above Officers and Regional Chairpersons or their representatives.

Grants Committee - Considers applications to the charity for research grant funding, taking expert advice where required.

How are our members supported?

Lupus UK maintains national and regional structures and provides fact sheets, books, leaflets, posters and other promotional material on the the illness and the work of the charity. Welfare facilities for members and information for the medical profession are also important.
