Thank You for this site, I've learned things and don't feel alone so much! I've had ms (I guess) for years and just didn't know it till about 5 years ago.

No insurance so not many Drs. Just trying lots of things I find in natural health books and talking to a few others in the same boat!

Thanks Again!!
Nita

Keep fighting! Never give up. Don't let others (loved ones, friends, doctors) tell you what your future will be. Your life is in your hands; you will fail or succeed only because you decided which course to take.

Good luck, Peace, and God Bless You.

I used to be on the MSersForum e-mail discussion group - is that still going? I tend to do better with e-mail that comes to me, rather than trying to remember to get to a Web site regularly.

I'm really tired when I get home from work, but at least I can still work, so I guess it's not too bad yet!

Hi Caryn,
MSersForum has been folded into The Place, we have a lot of new members, and many former members are also here. Winking Smiley

Welcome Back,
Tom

I'm 49y/o first symptoms at 26 after the birth of my son. Have done well until the last 3 years and more specifically until 3 months ago when I had my most severe episiode ever. Had to go to w/c. however, now, I am walking without an aid of any kind and feel pretty darn good. Had 7 weeks of IV solumedrol at home and then tapering dose of oral Prednisone.

I am a nurse, have one son, who just graduated from VT and lives in Va. I live alone with my doggie, Ginger. Was very active up to the last 3 years and now I sit at home a lot.

Name: Lynette Meloling   Email Me
From: Home Age at Onset: 38 Presenting Symptom: Stroke
Worst Symptom: Paralysed left side in 91 Best Treatment: Avonex Feb. 99 Best Neurologist: Seng-stock

Comments:
Did not know that I had MS, had a Stroke Christmas Day 1991 saw a Dr., in January a Neuro and he ran all kinds of tests on me, even a Spinal Tap. 1 of 3 tests for MS came back positive, but he was not convinced that it was MS. Took almost 7 years for a Neuro to DX me with MS.

I had an MRI, Spinal Tap, and Eye tests, the MRI was positive for MS and so did the eye test. The brain was a mass of white flashes and my Cerebellum was lite like a cave.

At that time, I had no feeling in finger tips and a very needle feeling left arm, hand and up to my shoulders - thought I was having a Heart attack.

Then saw an internist and had some more tests done. Saw a Neuro and after talking with my Husband and myself, he said that it was MS and still was and would always be.

So he decided that I should go on Avonex, as I have R/R MS. And am doing good since I started on it. Have had a few bad times, but then again I live on the East Coast of North Carolina and the Hurricanes and the heat really get to me.

When the pressure drops during the Hurricanes that seems to bother my eyes and walking, but I am doing good. I laugh at myself a lot, as I do not want to cry as I will never stop; and I take my MS one day at a time, as that is how life is.

This site looks fantastic. I would be honored if you would visit my site and post the link for your site so that my friends with MS followers may view your site also.

The purpose of my MSer's web site is to post photos of people with MS so that others may see that you can still be active and live a fun life.

Also I help with fund raisers as much as possible by providing advertisments and posting them in my email service, and I like to post links to other great MS sites on the internet.

SO please stop by and on my index page scroll down to the add web links on the bottom center of my page. Thank you and keep up the good work.

Hi, it's strange telling my story but who else would understand. I'm a fighter but this thing seems to be winning and it's really hard for me to deal with.

The pain sometimes gets so bad I just feel like I'm going to go crazy. My memory is getting so bad it's scary, they say short term - what do they call short term?

I'm going to keep fighting and maybe not in my lifetime but in the ones that follow, just maybe with all of our prays, there will be a cure.

Thanks for being here it means a lot.........

I'd like to hear from other women who had first symptom of MS at or near Menopause. How the disease progressed and whether they chose meds or the wait-and-see approach.

I'm in remission. Feel great, but fear summer, when each relapse has occurred.
