It is not brain surgery !!
People , mainly Americans , have a very frequently used phrase " It is
not brain surgery !" to indicate that the task in hand is not very
difficult one .
This is also meant to insinuate that brain surgery is a very difficult
task to perform.
Is that really so ?
Undeniably , brain is the most important organ of the body . It is the
most sensitive one - one wrong movement and the patient may become a
vegetable for the rest of his life. But really how complicated and
intellectually challenging is the situation ?
Much before the actual surgery , the entire anatomy of the patient is
thoroughly scrutinized by a team of doctors and paramedics . The skull
and the brain are x rayed dozens of times and the pictures are studied
in very minute details and the malignancy is properly isolated . Even
the surgery is carried out using computer controlled sophisticated
equipment . Nothing is left to chance . In most cases even before the
skull is opened , the doctor knows what he is going to find inside , what
he is going to do with it , and how he is going to do it . Everything is
preplanned and predecided . All that the doctor needs is supple fingers
and stable hands ..
...So ? Is it afterall brain surgery ?
