MY LIFE

Danny's Letters to God
The Promises Instead of Jail – And Why Not?

Dear God,

Well, here I sit feeling the urgency that comes with any trip, especially when there are contractors coming to finish their work so they may be paid, and the woman You sent to run my life has an early business meeting so will be of no help. I also have a doctor’s appointment at 9:30 a.m., and as of this moment am both toothless and unpacked. Some of us are just so full of being able to screw things up knowing we are not in charge.

My cute little butt will jump to as soon as this missive is off. I will be missing this type of communication for a few weeks, but we will have our morning coffee together as the creepy crawly creatures of the Savannah go to bed. In a few short hours of being down south, I will be able to distinguish the sounds of the alligators, fox, bobcats, boars and birds so frequently passing through my back yard. Once the noisy family comes the animals, while still there, will be mostly silent. Part of me will sorely miss all my loop buds, however I do need to get some rest from this retirement thing.

God of mine, my heart is so full of gratitude for this life You have given me. I no longer question, well, yes I do, sometimes, why me? The Promises are mine, they belong to me, You have given them to me, thanks. Right now, this very minute, I wish all of the people who said I would not live to see the age of thirty, at least outside of prison, could be sitting with me now. I would relish the opportunity to show them this way of life. I'd best be off looking for the wisdom to know and power to do Your will just for today. Watch over my family, friends, fellow loopies, those who suffer and the people I don't like. Please help those who have sickness in their loved ones get through just one more day.

And Why Not?
