II. EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

1978 - 1984 «Anatolia College» :

Private Technical College of Further Education. Department of Electronic Engineer.

1986 - 1988 «Euclid» :
State Technical College of Higher Education. Diploma in Laboratory Chemistry and in Mineralogy.

1988 - 1996 «TEI of Thessaloniki» :
Technological Educational Institution. School of Food Technology and Nutrition. Department of Food Technology. Degree in Food Technology.

(1992 - 1994) Military service :
My studies were interrupted by a 2 year compulsory military service in the Greek Air Force, which I enjoyed as it taught me the principles of loyalty, discipline and commitment.
There, I reached the rank of Sergeant in the Air Force Police.


III. EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE

Anatolia College, is an American sponsored private High School, where English is the main spoken language, hence my knowledge of English reached an efficiently high level.

My year in Democritus, gave me an in-sight in electronics.

During the following 2 years in Euclid, as a laboratory chemist and a mineralogist, I achieved a high passing marks of 90% which gave me an award from the Ministry of Education and an access to TEI (Technological Educational Institute).

At TEI, I have been studying food science and technology, focusing on aquatic products.

My projects, have been on

  1. Effect of olive oil in human nutrition (1988)
  2. Tempeh : Traditional biotechnology from Indonesia (1989)
  3. Studies on the nutritional habits of the consumers (1990)
  4. Preservation of squalus acanthias by salting (1994)
  5. Nutritional value of meat and its products (1995)
  6. Chemical composition and conservation ability of the chondrichthyes. Chemical and biochemical changes during frozen storage of the chondrichthyes (1996)

The mark for the assessment on the final project prior to graduation, on «Chemical composition and conservation ability of the chondrichthyes. Chemical and biochemical changes during frozen storage of the elasmobranchs», is 100 %.

The overall marks, I achieved for the degree on food technology is 64.2%.


IV. LABORATORY EXPERIENCE

I followed successfully a 9-month work-experience on aquatic products technology in the Institute’s laboratory, and I found this type of work very interesting and stimulating. I worked under the supervision of Dr. Pavlos Karakoltsidis and the tittle of my thesis was «Chemical composition and conservation ability of the chondrichthyes. Chemical and biochemical changes during frozen storage of the chondrichthyes».

    In 1986, I worked under a 90-day contract at the Maintenance Department of «TITAN S.A.» Cement Company.

    In 1987, I worked under a two-month contract at the Chemistry Department of «Interbeton S.A.».

    In 1988, I worked under a 90-day contract at the Administration Department of «TITAN» Cement Company.

    In 1989, I worked under a four-month contract at the Maintenance Department of «TITAN» Cement Company.

    In 1990, I worked under a full-time contract, as a reporter, at the Newspaper of the 9th World Congress of Applied Linguistics (AILA’90), held by the Aristotelean University of Thessaloniki at Kassandra, Chalkidiki.

    In 1995, I followed successfully a 9-month work-experience on aquatic products technology in the Institute’s laboratory, and I found this type of work very interesting and stimulating. I worked under the supervision of Dr. Pavlos Karakoltsidis and the tittle of my thesis was «Chemical composition and conservation ability of the chondrichthyes. Chemical and biochemical changes during frozen storage of the chondrichthyes».

    From January of 1998 to June of 1998, I worked as a technical consultant in Betz Dearborn.


    VI. PARTICIPATION IN CLUBS, EXHIBITIONS AND SEMINARS

    During my studies at Anatolia, I participated in chemistry and electronics club, and played for the school’s chess club championship team.

    Attendance of the 9th World Congress of Applied Linguistics (AILA’90) held at Kassandra, Chalkidiki.

    Attendance of many Greek exhibitions and seminars, dealing with general issues of Food Science and Technology.

    Attendance of the 3rd Congress of the Union of Greek Food Technologists, held at Athens.
