SEPT. 1997 FLORIDA 2 DMAT NEWSLETTER
The Sept 6th Training (classroom)exercise was a big success. 27 members
attended and were happy to announce that 8 members of Florida 3 (Tampa)
attended. It was a full day of lecture/hands on with hazmat, NBC
incidents, radio communication, triage/tagging ,logistics, CISM, medical equipment and
administrative updates . For those who did not attend you missed a valuable
day. Although Bill Bishop got Dominos to contribute pizzas there were still
some who braved the MREs. Wink TV shot footage of the application of the
NBC gear and we were on the 7 & 11 PM news. Good job to all who were
involved with the exercise.
After the exercise a group (including the Fl 3 team) went to Applebees
Rest. to dine and enjoy each others company. Great Day!!! A big "Thank you" to
the members who attended.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS TEAM MEETINGS
The next three executive meeting dates will be replaced with team meetings.
This will be a great opportunity for all members to become more involved
in
the team. The executive committee will have openings in subcommittee
positions for those who are interested. This is your team. Be a part of
it.

What is the value of one member? Ten little members standing in a line.
One disliked the president, then there were nine. Nine ambitious members offered
to work late. One forgot her promise, then there were eight. Eight
creative members had ideas good as heaven. One lost enthusiasm, then there were
seven. Seven loyal members got into a fix. They quarreled over programs,
and then there were six. Six members remained with spirit and drive. One
moved away, then there were five. Five steadfast members wished there were
more. One became indifferent, then there were four. Four cheerful members
who never disagree til one complained of meetings; then there were three.
Three eager members. What do they do? One got discouraged, then there
were two. Two lonely members; our rhyme nearly done. One joined a bridge club,
then there was one. One faithful member was feeling rather blue- Met with
a neighbor, then there were two. Two earnest members, each enrolled one
more-Doubling their number, and then there were four. Four determined members
just couldnt wait- til each won another, then there were eight! Eight
excited members sign up 16 or more. In another six verses, therell be a
thousand twenty-four.
Remeber this poem whenever you think "what can I do- Im only one person".

At the last Executive meeting it was voted to purchase a telephone dialer
to be used to call up members for deployment-also to be used for information
purposes-the computer program has been ordered. Also a new design for the
team shirts has been approved and you can order new ones by calling Audrey
at 941-627-1849 or e-mail ABS1130@aol.com. The older ones are still approved
for use.
For those who did not attend the recent exercise you will find enclosed in
this newsletter a copy of your field activity- it will show A) that you
have attended a good number of the exercises or B) that you have not
contributed to the teams existence. (PS For those who are new to the team your short
list in taken into consideration). We value each and every member on the team
but we need practice as a team to be efficient in the field upon deployment.
Remember also it is your obligation to provide Admin with your current
address, phone number and upon every renewal date to send a copy of your
license. It is impossible for us to track down 100 members. Your updated
file will place you in a more favorable position to be deployed. Please
take the time to complete and mail the bottom portion of this newsletter and
return. Also for the members who have kept up to date on supplying Admin
the information mentioned and for paying dues we add a BIG THANK YOU.
