The Mexican Institute of Sexology was founded 18 years ago, as a non
profit organization, seeking to provide an answer to the severe
social problems originated by lack of formal education in sexuality
in México, such as:
·Family disintegration ·Sexual dysfunctions
·Couple problems and ruptures ·Abortion
·Sexual margination of disabled persons ·Rape
·Unequality among sexes ·Sexualy transmitted diseases
and HIV/AIDS
·Machismo ·Sexual abuse on children
·Pregnancy in adolescents ·Denial of children´s
sexuality
·Sexual margination of elder people ·Margination of
sexual minorities




The Mexican Institute of Sexology teaches, by means of an agreement.
with the National Pedagogical University (which is a branch of the
Ministry of Education) the 2 year post graduate degree as Specialist
in Educational Sexology (the first in its class in Latin America).
The Masters Degree will be offered in the second semester of 1998.
Our Institute granted scholarships for active teachers in the public
school system that are studying this postgraduate 2 year course, for
an amount of $137,975.00 dollars up to this date.
The Institute has a 2 year post-graduate course in Clinical Sexology
and Sex Therapy. Other postgraduate courses offered by the Institute
are: Research in sexual health and sexology, Sensibilization and
group work in education and Disability and sexual rehabilitation.
Our clinic for people and couples with sexual problems has provided
therapy for more than 1,000 needed people.
The Mexican Institute of Sexology has accomplished an
interinstitutional agreement in 1995 to publish a bi yearly
scientific journal devoted to publish scientific papers in Spanish
on Sex education, therapy and social issues, called Archivos
Hispanoamericanos de Sexología, which is in its third year of
publication.
The Mexican Institute of Sexology, A.C. since its foundation: Has
taught more than 500 workshops and has educated more than 7,000
students.Has taught more than 200,000 hours of classes, workshops
and conferences and has aproximately 30 permanent teachers and has
also taught courses, workshops and conferences in several public and
private institutionsand over 100 courses in several states of the 31
of the Mexican Republic.At least 50% of the members of groups that
work in similar fields in México, as education on AIDS, population,
and others, have gone through our classrooms.
The Mexican Institute of Sexology has accomplished all the tasks
which have been mentioned throughout 16 years, without any financial
support from public or private, national or international
institutions.
