Note: The following account was in response to a question regarding my
actual initial experience with MUSET (alprostadil), a new treatment for
erectile dysfunction, which does not involve penile injection.

Dr. Joe,

<<But does it work !!!>>

My initial reaction is yes, it works, but it *is* a little different, so
here is the account of my maiden cruise with MUSET (sorry about that,
but had to get it out of my system, guys!). I was pretty excited that my
wife wanted to go out of her way and make a special trip on the way home
to pick up the MUSET which had arrived. Meantime, I found out about our
home team playing on TV and, as I told you before, that is high on her
priority list, so I began to think maybe it wasn't in the cards if it
was one of those late games. However, I was elated to find out it was an
early game. We had both thoroughly read the material VivusT had sent us
and had agreed to follow it to the letter the first time. She has always
liked to do my injections, so at the last commercial break, she
suggested we go and let her apply the pellet and sit together and watch
the remaining minute or so while it was doing its thing. They recommend
you stand, sit, or walk around rather than lay in bed to get a maximum
erection (the blood can flow into the penis easier) and based on my
experience, I second that-after about 15 minutes, it seems to work great
particularly when you stand and you can feel the engorgement.

After about 15 minutes of foreplay and some special direct stimulation,
I had a nice erection (do you know who won the game?) and it was quite
obvious that we were both ready and it was time for us to get on with
some serious lovemaking which went on for a long time into the early
morning hours. So, both of us would tell you that it worked *very* well.

Here are our initial observations. First off, it is great to have an
alternative to that damn needle and it's possible dire consequences and
risk, not to mention the pain associated with direct injection into your
sensitive whacker. However, the reaction time is a little slower with
MUSE and my initial erection was not as rigid as with injection. It
seemed more normal and while the head had a slight throbbing or "full"
sensation, it was not like CaverjectT where it felt abnormal-sometimes
even hurt. My initial erection using the 1000 mcg MUSE dosage was about
75% of what I am accustomed to with direct injection of a 20 mcg
CaverjectT. But as soon as I penetrated and we began intercouse, the
erection grew to it's totally ridid state and stayed there throughout,
including long after I ejaculated while my partner enjoyed several more
climaxes beyond what is usual. My penis stayed in the swollen, highly-
sensitive, somewhat aroused turgid state that frequently happened with
injection and, without any further dosage, we were able to have
intercourse a second time about an hour following the first. The second
time was very enjoyable for me and it lasted even longer than the first,
but I did not ejaculate a second time. Some of my arousal may have been
due to the ambience of the event and not totally the MUSET since I have
experienced the same with injection on many occasions in the past.

Following the experience, my penis was devoid of all the pain and
abnormal feelings associated with direct injection. There is a slight
feeling that remains in the glans and the cavernosum, but you don't have
the injection site pain and the other discomfort and soreness that can
and does occur with injection. Overall, the whole thing is more normal.
You can feel only a very* slight "burning" sensation in the urethra
which is probably a combination of the drug and some tissue irritation
which Vivus says gets better with experience. The insertion of the
plunger and delivery of the pellet is in no way uncomfortable. Not like
taking a pill (perhaps sildanefilT will handle that although, I think
it's a gel which sounds interesting and even like fun), but otherwise
very normal. I'm not sure what I would have experienced with a lesser
dosage than 1000 mcg (it comes in 125, 250, 500 and 1000, I believe). I
*might* try to step it down on the next order and see after I discuss
with my uro, but I am inclined to leave things as they are right now and
didn't want to leave anything to chance and maybe waste a good
opportunity on the first go around. With CaverjectT, I had ended up
stepping up from the initial 10 mcg dosage.

Grab your partners and head for your uro to get a prescription, guys and
see for yourself. This may be the most significant rush since the
"Sooners" in Oklahoma! If I continue with this positive experience,
MUSET gets an Editor's Choice from me over todays alternatives and
VivusT has a winner for the time being.

I found the instructions and illustrations not very good and a little
confusing at first. Take the little hummer out and look at it carefully
as you could easily shoot the pellet out prior to insertion if you're
not careful and end up with only a placebo of nothing! My partner likes
not sticking the needle in the cavernosum and so do I. It is easy to
apply and can be easily worked into your foreplay activities as there is
nothing to deal with such as vials, syringes, etc. Like opening a big
condom wrapped in foil (don't carry it in your wallet however, guys!).

I would be happy to give any further information I can, but just
remember, all this is based on this one initial experience and you know
all the variables when dealing with sexual experiences, so take it as
such. YMMV.

Regards and good luck-let us know your own experiences with it soon,
